What possibly could be the thinking behind the recent monetary policy review by the central where it kept the lending rate unchanged at 12%? Is it that it fears for its own profits or that it sees inflation returning back to the economy or that it has no confidence in the inflation numbers cum data being touted by the government?

Well, ironically if it is the lack of confidence in the stated inflation numbers, then the SBP is not alone in casting skepticism on the national database, which is also under fire from others as well, for example, the IMF, the World Bank and now the US in trying to carve out a visa policy that could adversely affect Pakistani visitors to the country.
