KMC to Extend Pisciculture Facilities at Waterbodies for Natural Balance

Aiming to preserve the ecological balance, the environment department of Kolkata Municipal Corporation is working on schemes to extend pisciculture in various waterbodies.
The civic body has around 8,040 water bodies spread over an area of around 1,71,30045 square metres. The waterbodies that have been geo-tagged by the municipal corporation, cover around 8.36 per cent of the KMC area. The environment department is said to have solved 25 cases in the past year, including relocation of waterbodies.
