The role of food as a symbol of identity, cultural pride, and socio-economic expression in Odisha has come under debate with experts delving into how food shapes personal and collective identities.
The fifth edition of Odisha Manaska held a panel discussion on cultural, socio-economic dimensions of Odia food recently in Bhubaneswar with the event underscoring the narrative of Odia food on larger platforms.
"Food is the identity of a community, a geography, and speaks volume about the cultural attributes and natural resources available there," Ritu Pattnaik, who has penned a book documenting more than 250 traditional Odia cuisines, explained with anecdotes from her personal life.
