Sources aware of the development said that during the raid and search operations at the state education department headquarters at Salt Lake in the northern outskirts of Kolkata last year, the central agency sleuths secured names of 324 candidates whose names were recommended for school jobs by different high-profile individuals in the state.

The list, sources added, along containing the names of individuals recommending these 324 candidates, was also forwarded to the former state education minister and Trinamul Congress secretary general Partha Chatterjee, who was arrested in July 2022 by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials in connection with the school job case.

The prominent names figuring in the list shown as those recommending these candidates include former Trinamul Congress Lok Sabha member from Bangaon constituency in North 24 Parganas district and the current party Rajya Sabha member Mamata Bala Thakur as the current ruling party legislator from Canning (East) Assembly constituency in South 24 Parganas district Saokat Molla.
