TRUST plays a crucial role in how we coordinate, cooperate, reciprocate and respond to risk and uncertainty.
The pandemic forced a massive shift towards remote and hybrid work - one that remains in effect to some extent across a range of sectors. So it’s important to consider the implications of this shift for trust in the workplace.
When the move to remote work gained momentum, concern about workplace trust was shared by many — and companies tried various strategies in response. Some sought to instil confidence in employees that they were trusted, while others increased surveillance as a mechanism to control their workforce from afar. An underlying premise was that remote work threatens workplace trust.
Skill appreciation
Remote work has enabled us to have a newfound appreciation for skill acquisition under pressure.
