Sundowns brace for hostile test
The Star
|November 28, 2025
MAMELODI Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso says the finer margins will be decisive in determining the winner of their CAF Champions League clash against MC Alger at the Ali la Pointe Stadium in Douera tonight (9pm kickoff).
The Brazilians go into the encounter on the back of a strong start to the group phase, having claimed a 3-1 victory over Saint Eloi Lupopo, and they will hope to build on the disappointment suffered by the Algerian side after their 2-1 loss to Sudan's Al Hilal in their opening match.
Sundowns are chasing a seventh successive qualification to the knockout stages, but more importantly, they are determined to enforce their status as one of Africa's premier footballing forces. With ambitions of securing only their second Champions League title, a win against one of the most challenging sides to visit in this competition would set them up well for the rest of the campaign.
