Sea Robbers look to shake off ‘post-Riveiro depression’
The Star
|May 20, 2025
AS THE tumultuous aftermath of Jose Riveiro's departure lingers, Orlando Pirates find themselves in a challenging position ahead of their crucial Premiership match against a desperate SuperSport United this ‘Tuesday at the new Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The club settled for a disappoint-ing 1-1 draw against TS Galaxy on Saturday, and it appears they are suffering from what some are calling 'post-Riveiro depression’.
Under the stewardship of interim coach Mandla Ncikazi, progress appears to have stalled.
The transition from the Rivei-ro-era has been anything but seam-less. Against TS Galaxy, the Bucca-neers struggled for composure and failed to maintain control when it mattered most.
“It’s disappointing that, in the end, we had to settle for a draw after conceding a last-minute goal,” said Neikazi.
While acknowledging the frustra-tion of the result, he also embraced the opportunity to develop younger talent within the squad.
