Graduates in South Africa struggling to find jobs

YOUNG South African graduates are becoming more and more despondent about their careers as they continue to face unemployment.

As the job market becomes more competitive due to the economic downturn, several graduates are having to find types of work not related to what they studied in order to make a living.

Graduate Alondeh Zooloo recently posted about her experience of unemployment on Facebook and the post went viral with others sharing their stories.

“I remember the promise I made to my mom,” she wrote.

“A promise to build her a beautiful home as soon as I graduated, but life had other plans. Despite my hard work and dedication, I’m still struggling to find a job.”

Zooloo, who holds a Bachelor of Social Science in Psychology and Sociology and an Honours in Clinical Sociology, is not alone.

Thousands of South African graduates are confronting the same harsh reality: despite diligently following the conventional path of studying hard, obtaining a degree, and striving for a better future, they find employment remains frustratingly elusive.
