An expert shares top facts about the world's whales

- DAISY FOX Family Time Correspondent

EVER wondered about whales? Here, Rod Downie, Chief Advisor (Polar and Oceans) at WWF UK, tells us all about these magnificent creatures.

Are there whales in every sea?

Different whale species have adapted to thrive in every ocean, from icy to tropical waters. They might seek out colder seas to feed on krill and then move towards warmer regions to give birth to calves. However, climate change is affecting whales’ ranges — how far they travel.

How is there room for all of the massive whales in the sea?

Our seas are vast and largely unexplored and different whale species travel along “blue corridors” to feed, mate and raise their calves.

Protecting these corridors, which is what WWF has been helping with, is crucial for their survival.

What do whales eat?
