Who will win the battle to be Vale’s keeper at Wigan?

FORMER Port Vale defender Adam Yates believes boss Darren Moore knows the pecking order of his goalkeepers.

Who will win the battle to be Vale’s keeper at Wigan?

NUMBER ONE: Joe Gauci, Marko Marosi and Ben Amos, inset, are vying to be Port Vale's first choice.

‘There is a debate over who will start this weekend’s League One game at Wigan Athletic.

Joe Gauci, on loan from Aston Villa, has been in good form between the sticks, but his stint away on international duty opened the door for fit-again Ben Amos.

Marko Marosi had started the season as number one, but was dislodged after Gauci arrived from his Premier League parent club.

And then there is the experienced Amos, who played a key part in the Valiants being promoted from League Two last season.

“I can’t really say much about Marosi and Gauci other than from the games I've seen this year and I've not seen all the games,” Yates told Radio Stoke.

“What I would say about Ben Amos is he has had a long career, he has played a lot of games, he's been at a lot of big clubs and he is really sound and solid in terms of performances.
