Prolific thief notches up his 259th offence
BURGLAR Lee Beard has been jailed after he broke into a student flat while the victim was away.
The 52-year-old, who has a lengthy criminal record with 258 offences including 177 for theft offences, cut or burnt through a cable to enter through a window at Poulson House in Spark Street, Stoke.
Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard he carried out an untidy search and spent some time there before taking a £150 hoodie and leaving. But he was linked to the crime after leaving his fingerprints at the scene. Now Beard, who is a 'third-strike burglar', has been sentenced to 876 days in prison.
