BUS fares in the Potteries have been increased to ensure a discount scheme can continue 'for as long as possible.
The Smart Fares scheme was launched in July 2023 after Stoke-on-Trent City Council teamed up with the five local operators.
It led to some ticket prices reduced by almost half. Now it has been confirmed that the scheme will continue until the end of March.
The council said nearly 2.5 million tickets had been sold since then and more than 12.5 million bus trips had been made in the area, which covers the city and immediate surrounding areas in North Staffordshire.
