VERYBODY connected to Port Vale was aware of the magnitude of the home clash with Notts County.

Live on Sky TV, on Thursday, February 13, Vale Park would be buzzing.

Boss Darren Moore was keen to play down the game's significance. His sixth-placed Valiants would close the gap on the second-placed Magpies to one point with a victory as they looked to bounce back into League Two's top-three automatic promotion places.

Asked whether it was the club’s biggest game of the season so far Moore told reporters via the club, predictably: “It’s probably the biggest game, only because it’s the next one.

“It’s as simple as that really.”

Cutting out basic errors was key and reflecting on the 3-3 draw at Swindon, Moore added: “For us it has been making sure we looked at the goals we conceded.

“They were elementary mistakes and lapses of concentration. We needed to address that at length.

“If you are going away from home and scoring three goals you are looking at winning the game as opposed to getting a point.”

Jayden Stockley was back in training, which was a good sign for Vale, after he went off early at the County Ground.

Moore had recently employed two strikers playing together which he didn’t do in the first half of the campaign.
