Sandyford produce top performance to take scalp of high-fliers

SANDYFORD seconds picked up an impressive victory over high-flying Woore in NSSCL Division Five.

Sandyford’s bowlers came to the fore in the early stages of the contest as they managed to dismiss Woore for 117.

Preston Davies and Ethan Bates captured 4-21 and 4-31 respectively, while Jamie Birch (28), Michael Burton (24), Lauren Kenvyn (23) and Andrew Kenvyn (17) made the most headway with the bat.

Lewis Teale struck twice in reply, but Sandyford eased to a seven-wicket success on the resumption.

Joe Ward (37) and Patrick Wilkes (36no) were the main men with the bat for the home side.

Rode Park & Lawton cruised to a seven-wicket victory on their trip to Meir Heath 2nd XI.

P Hulme’s 4-15 and 3-2 from M Hulme sent Meir Heath sliding to 78 all out early in the piece. J Gallimore also chipped in with two scalps.

A Maroof made 20 for Meir Heath, with J Stephenson and N Darlington both weighing in with 17 apiece.
