Police hunting hit-and-run killer discover a stolen car abandoned in city alleyway

51-year-old victim is named after tragedy

POLICE have named a man who was was killed by a hit-and-run driver on Friday night.

The pedestrian died at the scene of the collision on Newcastle Lane in Penkhull.

Police are still hunting the hit and run killer following the incident at 9pm near the junction with Whalley Avenue.

The force yesterday named 51-year-old Christopher Deaville, of Stoke-on-Trent, as the man killed as a result of the collision.

Police have also revealed that as part of their investigation, a stolen black Mini Cooper has been found abandoned in an alleyway near Birks Street in Stoke town.
