New trees and paths for 'oasis' popular with families

WORK is set to start on revitalising a North Staffordshire woodland 'oasis' - thanks to a grant of more than £126,000.
Hem Heath Woods, surrounded by Trentham, Newstead and Wedgwood, will be spruced up with new broadleaf trees and waymarked trails.
Its well-worn paths - popular with walkers and runners - will also be repaired as part of the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust (SWT) project.
It follows a £126,988 grant from the Veolia Environmental Trust through the Landfill Communities Fund.
The work begins on Monday with pathway resurfacing and then continues over winter.
