Neighbours' fury as water giant blocks their cars during £25m pipes upgrade

WATER giant Severn Trent has apologised to fed-up neighbours as work has seen roads dug up and closed off in a city neighbourhood.

Families in Birches Head claimed one of the utility's huge tankers made it impossible for them to get out.

Restrictions have been put in place while Severn Trent lays 24 miles of new pipes in the Potteries as part of a £25 million scheme.

It has seen Chell Street and Hanley Roadfrom Birches Head Road up to Milton Road in Sneyd Green - made one-way for 23 weeks.

But neighbours in Turner Street say they have been shown a 'flagrant disregard' - and have questioned just where they can park while roads are dug up and shut off.
