Meningitis B jabs for Kent uni students

THOUSANDS of students have begun receiving a meningitis B vaccine at their Canterbury campus, the University of Kent has said.

In partnership with the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), the university is to vaccinate about 5,000 students. It is also continuing to offer thousands of doses of antibiotics to students and staff.
The action comes after two students died and 18 more cases were being investigated by the UKHSA following an outbreak of meningitis that has been linked to a nightclub.
The university said in a statement the jabs were "part of our ongoing commitment to offer a swift response and reassurance to support Kent students at this difficult time".
