Ceramics biennial winner named
A CERAMICS project inspired by TV show Bridgerton has landed a £10,000 prize for artist Jo Taylor.
Jo's work, (Not) Guilty Pleasures, won the biggest prize in UK ceramics-known as the British Ceramics Biennial (BCB) 'Award' Prize from a shortlist of 10 at the BCB in Stoke.
It features eight large sculptural vessels that 'distil the essence of Rococo through the use of curves, ornament, asymmetry and theatricality.
Their creation was inspired by a conversation in which Bridgerton with its unapologetic celebration of opulence and colour was referred to as a 'guilty pleasure'.
Jo's work is part of the British Ceramics Biennial's headline exhibition, Award, at Spode Works.
