'Innovative' new course at college

COLLEGE bosses have launched a ground-breaking new qualification specialising in ceramics.

The City of Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College will begin teaching the new T Level in craft and design with a specialism in ceramics in September.

The college says this 'innovative' new course marks a major step forward in securing the future of Stoke-on-Trent's globally recognised ceramics industry by nurturing the next generation of skilled makers, designers, and creatives.

As the birthplace of the pottery industry and home to some of the most iconic ceramic brands in the world, Stoke-on-Trent has a rich creative heritage that needs to be 'celebrated and safeguarded'.

By embedding ceramics directly into the creative curriculum, the college hopes to ensure that this legacy continues - as a 'dynamic and viable' career path for young people today.
