THE GREATEST HORROR FILMS OF ALL TIME

PSYCHO could be about to be knifed from its 65-year reign as the scariest movie of all time.

According to average ratings on the movie aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, Alfred Hitchcock's masterpiece of psychological thrills is the greatest horror film ever made.

The movie, filmed in black-and-white in 1960, received a 95% approval rating from audiences using the site, the joint highest of any horror movie with The Silence of the Lambs.

However, Psycho received a higher rating on the “Tomatometer”, which is based on multiple reviews from critics. Reviewers gave the psychological thriller a 97% score, higher than The Silence of the Lambs (95%).

That gave Psycho a chart-topping average rating of 96% from audiences and critics.
