FERGIE TIME ON CARDS FOR VALE?
The Sentinel
|December 30, 2025
DARREN Ferguson has been installed as the early bookmakers’ favourite to be Port Vale’s next manager.
-
The Valiants are searching for a new boss after sacking Darren Moore on Sunday night.
Vale find themselves rock-bottom of League One after an 12-game winless run, which has left them 11 points from safety after last night's 1-0 defeat at Bradford City.
They have also failed to score in nine of their last 10 league matches.
Ferguson, aged 53, is the early frontrunner to take over at Vale Park, after seeing his fourth spell with Peterborough United end in October.
The son of legendary boss Sir Alex Ferguson, he guided Posh to four promotions in his time at the Weston Homes Stadium and won the EFL Trophy in the past two seasons.
Ferguson, who has also managed Preston and Doncaster, was on League Two side Barrow’s wanted list, but it is believed the distance from his Rutland base would prove to be a stumbling block.
Ferguson is 6/4 to take the Vale job, with former Northampton manager Jon Brady a 5/1 second favourite.
