Families urged to save water ahead of another 'heatwave'

FAMILIES are being urged to save water after a dramatic fall in levels at the reservoir serving North Staffordshire - ahead of another heatwave.

Temperatures hit the early 30s degrees centigrade last week and it's set to the same again as we head towards this weekend.

Despite torrential downpours on Sunday, rainfall in Staffordshire has also dropped significantly in June, with just 37 per cent of what is normally expected, compared to around 50 per cent in other counties in the Severn Trent region, which means there’s less water in reservoirs and rivers.

And the demand for water has continued to rise across Staffordshire during the hot weather.
