Internet yobs blamed as water emptied from two-mile canal stretch
PART of a scenic canal route has been left ‘devastated’ - after a series of locks were opened in an act of vandalism.
Two miles of the Trent & Mersey Canal in Kidsgrove were left drained of water between locks 44 and 54. Police are investigating, and the Canal & River Trust says the waterway will remain closed for the foreseeable future. A walker first reported the incident after going for a stroll along the canal on Monday.
