'Children's safety compromised' at inadequate nursery

Ofsted publishes damning report after latest inspection

A NORTH Staffordshire nursery has been rated 'inadequate' by inspectors.

Rough Close Day Nursery, in Rough Close, has received a damning report from the education watchdog Ofsted.

According to the inspector's report, 'children's safety and welfare are compromised in this setting' and it is demanding that action is taken to address several concerns raised.

The inspector reveals that 'the staff-to-child ratios are in breach of legal requirements' due to a lack of 'suitably qualified staff working in each room, and states that 'not all equipment is safe and appropriate for use' - such as 'the chairs used for babies and tots to sit at the table' which mean they 'are seated too high and are at risk of injuries from falls.
