23-year-old jailed and handed roads ban

A DANGEROUS driver led police on a high-speed chase on the M6 before he was eventually boxed in.

Homeless Matthew Turley was behind the wheel of a VW Golf, which was suspected to be on cloned plates, when officers started to follow him on the motorway in Staffordshire.

Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard the 23-year-old was followed onto Keele Services before blue lights were illuminated and a pursuit ensued.

He weaved in-and-out of ‘heavy traffic’ during the chase which began at about 4.30am. It took using a stinger and a police ‘box manoeuvre’ to stop Turley in his tracks n February 19 this year. Now he has been jailed for 12 months.
