Shocking so far figure revealed after White Ribbon Day
POLICE in Staffordshire have arrested more than 200 people so far this year on suspicion of violence against women and girls.
Senior officers have revealed that more than 70 suspects were detained last month, in relation to investigations into violence against females, and two men were convicted following separate inquiries into rape, voyeurism, assault and intentional strangulation.
It came after six months earlier, police charged 26 people with VAWG offences after the force made 117 arrests.
And earlier in May, a man was jailed for more than 20 years after being convicted of sexual assault offences relating to 11 women and girls.
