THE MIDWIVES SUMMIT 2025: CARING FOR WOMEN, CARING FOR GENERATIONS

At the Midwives Summit 2025: Leaders from the public and private sectors, led by Health Secretary Dr. Teodoro “Ted” Herbosa (center), join midwives in reaffirming their shared commitment to advancing women’s health and well-being.

"Behind every safe birth and every healthy mother is a competent, compassionate, and courageous midwife,” says Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa. “This only proves that when we take care of women, they take care of everyone else — their children, their families, and the next generation of Filipinos.”

It’s this vital role that took center stage at the recent Midwives Summit 2025, a gathering of healthcare professionals, advocates, and policymakers united in their mission to uplift midwifery in the Philippines, held recently at Seda Hotel in QC.

Organized by the Integrated Midwives Association of the Philippines (IMAP) in partnership with Organon Philippines, the event reinforced midwives’ importance as community-based champions for women’s health and as key drivers in advancing Universal Health Care (UHC).

From powerful stories on the ground to high-level policy discussions, the summit featured speakers from the Department of Health (DOH), PhilHealth, Commission on Population and Development (CPD), academe, and civil society. They shared insights on expanding reproductive health access, strengthening primary care, and promoting women’s empowerment at the grassroots level.
