SEC launches green equity guidelines

|September 28, 2025
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has marked another milestone in developing the country’s capital market by introducing Southeast Asia’s first green equity guidelines.
The commission issued on Sept. 23 SEC Memorandum Circular 13, Series of 2025, outlining the Guidelines on Philippine Green Equity.
The SEC said that green equity is a complement to sustainable debt instruments to expand the range of sustainable investment products in the market.
The commission’s guidelines are intended to set out a framework for green equity offerings, thus providing greater visibility of green activities by companies.
“The issuance of the SEC Green Equity Guidelines is a game-changing initiative that will help develop the capital market not only by boosting liquidity but also by supporting our climate goals,” SEC chairperson Francis Lim said.
