PNP Intensifies Visibility in Areas With Intense Rivalries

After a reelectionist mayor in Cagayan was shot dead during a campaign sortie, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has intensified its visibility in areas with intense political rivalries with just over two weeks before the May 12 election.
PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil said people would feel safer if they would see more police personnel on the streets.
The League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) issued an urgent call to the Commission on Elections (Comelec), National Bureau of Investigation and the police to resolve the killing of Rizal mayor Joel Ruma during a campaign sortie on April 23.
