Yuchengco-led PetroGreen Energy Corp. (PGEC) has partnered with China’s Mingyang Smart Energy Group Ltd. to study the feasibility of its planned two-gigawatt offshore wind project in Ilocos Norte.

The partnership was formalized on Thursday with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Mingyang and PGEC unit Buhawind Energy Northern Luzon Corp., the project proponent.

The study will focus on testing Mingyang’s offshore wind turbine models and associated technologies for northern Luzon’s weather and ocean conditions, assessing potential annual energy output and estimating project costs.
