NEA POWERS THE FUTURE WITH SUSTAINABILITY

The National Electrification Administration (NEA) plays a crucial role in electrifying rural areas in the Philippines. It focuses on strengthening its partners in the rural electrification program, or the electric cooperatives (ECs), ensuring they are empowered to be "efficient, reliable, and globally competitive."

This year, the organization celebrates its 56th founding anniversary, steadfast in continuing its mission to provide electricity in rural communities. Alongside this milestone, The NEA also celebrates the 16th National Electrification Awareness Month, during which it aims to highlight the importance of a whole-of-nation approach in powering Filipino households, especially those in rural areas.

"Rural electrification is not just about connecting communities to electricity—it's about developing and enhancing mechanisms that will support the education, livelihood, health, and progress of communities nationwide," NEA Administrator Antonio Mariano Almeda says in an interview with The Philippine STAR.

The celebration also aims to recognize the efforts of line workers and technical staff who play an important role in the whole electrification industry.

ENSURING SUSTAINABILITY

Almeda shares that the NEA has prepared measures to ensure that its projects are sustainable in the long run: "The NEA integrates sustainability in all stages of its electrification programs-from planning to implementation and monitoring."
