Mines field teams on high alert as Typhoon Nando strengthens

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) over the weekend said it has placed its field teams on high alert as Typhoon Nando threatens to intensify into a super typhoon and unleash heavy rains that could trigger landslides and flash floods in vulnerable communities.
The MGB, an attached agency of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), said it participated in the hybrid emergency meeting of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Saturday as part of government-wide preparations for the storm.
