Marcos orders other agencies: Cut project costs like DPWH

President Marcos has widened the coverage of his order to lower project costs to include other agencies engaged in delivering vital services, aside from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Marcos made the announcement yesterday before departing for South Korea for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting, citing the need to “honor public trust” as the government faces intense scrutiny over corruption issues.

The Chief Executive, who earlier directed the DPWH to align its project costs with real market prices and reduce them by up to 50 percent, said his administration would also reduce the costs of farm-to-market roads, irrigation, classrooms and hospitals. The cuts are expected to generate savings ranging from P30 billion to P45 billion.
