Let Phl courts decide on Quiboloy's case first

The legal team of accused human trafficker and sex offender Apollo Quiboloy is hoping the Philippine government will allow local courts to exercise jurisdiction over his cases before considering any extradition request from the United States.

Israelito Torreon, one of Quiboloy's counsels, said that while they have yet to receive official notice of an extradition request from the US government, he acknowledged that such a request, if true, would be in line with the extradition treaty between the two countries.

He also noted that while the US can even request for provisional arrest under Article 9 of the treaty, this would not be necessary since Quiboloy is already in detention with a pending motion for reconsideration on his denied bail petition.
