Grab, GCash IPOs to boost tech play in stocks — DICT

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is pushing tech giants Grab Philippines and GCash to go public to boost the number of digital players in the stock market.

Information Secretary Henry Aguda yesterday said his next agenda in the DICT is to entice tech providers to file an initial public offering (IPO) at the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE).
He said these super apps are already matured enough financially to go public.
Moreover, Aguda believes the country is filled with tech talents who have the capability to set up the next super app with the proper funding, which an IPO can provide.
Given this, the DICT will talk to tech giants and startups to convince them to list their shares starting next year.
