It didn’t take long for Gilas coach Tim Cone to figure out how to demolish Guam before a homecrowd that appeared to show more support for the visiting squad at the Calvo Fieldhouse last Friday.
After the Chamorros tied the count, 17-all, to end the first quarter and led, 25-24, with 5:48 left in the second, Gilas buckled down to work defensively. A 16-4 run closed the first half then Gilas held Guam to seven points in the third frame and 10 in the fourth to score a convincing 87-46 win.
