Boosting Workers' AI Literacy Sought

The government and the private sector will work together to boost artificial intelligence (AI) literacy and to prepare Filipino workers for a future driven by technology.

The AI upskilling initiative was among the topics discussed during President Marcos' meeting with the education and jobs sector group of the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) on Wednesday at Malacañang.

"The upscaling initiative using AI will help expand AI literacy in the country. Employees will be prepared for an AI-powered future and the country's capacity not just in using AI, but also in designing AI systems," Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said in a press briefing yesterday.

PSAC presented a detailed plan for a training that seeks to enhance AI literacy and to prepare young Filipinos for the demands of an increasingly AI-driven global economy.

The initiative was finalized during the meeting, which also tackled the Philippine labor market, the semiconductor industry and a plan for an enterprise-based education.
