Households with access to basic drinking water increased last year, according to a survey of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

- Louella Desiderio

Preliminary results of the PSA's Annual Poverty Indicators Survey showed that the percentage of families with access to at least basic drinking water service rose to 97.5 percent in 2024 from 96.3 percent in 2022.

The same data showed that 53.1 percent had access to a safely managed drinking water service from an improved source.

Safely managed drinking water is sourced from the Community Water System, always available and involves the payment of a monthly water bill charged by a water utility company.
