Pressure builds on EU to make pioneering AI law weaker

The future of the EU’s pioneering artificial intelligence law hangs in the balance, as soon-to-be implemented key aspects of the legislation face fierce attacks from the Trump administration and a number of large European firms.
This week, over 40 European business leaders wrote an open letter urging Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European commission, to “stop the clock” on rolling out the AI Act, which was adopted last August as the world’s first significant legislation designed to ensure the current AI revolution takes place safely for humanity.
