Vehicle retail sales drop in May in J&K amid geopolitical uncertainty: FADA chairperson

The Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA), Chairperson, Jammu, Sanjay Aggarwal, has said that vehicle retail has drastically dropped in the month of May in Jammu and Kashmir due to the geopolitical uncertainty.
“The Geopolitical tensions in various parts of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in sensitive border regions, have had a significant dampening effect on overall vehicle retail performance in May 2025," the FADA chairperson here said on Sunday.
Expert in automobile dealing for decades, Aggarwal said, "Dealerships have reported reduced footfall, shorter business hours, and delays in test drives and deliveries caused by security checkpoints and logistical hurdles.”
The commercial vehicle segment has also felt the impact, as logistics operations and freight routes through sensitive areas face movement restrictions, revealed the FADA chairperson.
Sharing the figures, he stated that in Jammu and Kashmir, the three-wheeler category witnessed a downfall of -9.07 percent at 952 units in May 2025, as compared to 1,047 units in May 2024.
