Regional connectivity begins as Nepal powers up B'desh through India

The trilateral power-sharing agreement involving India, Nepal, and Bangladesh came into effect on Friday with power supply from Nepal to Bangladesh beginning through an Indian grid.
This marks the first trilateral power transaction to have been carried out through the Indian grid.
The project was jointly inaugurated virtually by Union Minister for Power and Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal, along with Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Adviser, Bangladesh Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, and Dipak Khadka, Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Nepal.
India announced its decision to facilitate such a transaction with export of up to 40 MW of power during the visit of former Nepal PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' to India in June last year.
