ON a day the first half of the heavy US tariff on India kicked in, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was willing to bear any significant personal cost to defend the rights of farmers and the dairy sector. "I know that I will personally have to pay a heavy price. But I am ready for it," Modi stated.
"For us, the interests of farmers is the top priority. India will never compromise on the interests of farmers, dairy sector and fishermen," the prime minister said in his address at the M S Swaminathan Centenary International Conference here.
