ED Raids Cong Leaders in Multi-Crore ST Fund Scam

THE Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday conducted raids at the residences and offices of four Congress MLAs and Ballari MP E Tukaram in Ballari and Vijayanagara districts, in connection with the alleged financial irregularities in the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation (KMVSTDC).
The crackdown comes months after the suicide of Chandrashekaran P, a superintendent with the corporation, who left behind a note that allegedly pointed to large-scale misuse of public funds.
The ED's searches targeted Ballari Rural MLA and former minister B Nagendra, who had earlier been arrested and is currently out on bail; Ballari City MLA Nara Bharath Reddy; Kampli MLA J N Ganesh; and Kudligi MLA Dr NT Srinivas.
