Rent data will be collected monthly, replacing current practice of collecting rent in 6 months
IN order to track housing inflation better in the Consumer Price Index (CPI), the government is planning to give greater prominence to changes in housing rents.
This is part of its overall plan to change the way housing inflation is tracked by its statistics department. In a consultation paper released on Thursday, the ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (Mospi) has proposed to increase the frequency and coverage of rent data collection.
Rent data will be collected monthly, replacing the current practice of collecting rent every six months.
