CM slams centre on duty cut after NITI boycott

CHIEF Minister M K Stalin slammed the finance minister's announcement in the Union Budget "to moderate the high stamp duty levied by states.

"This comes after the CM boycotted the NITI Aayog meeting on Saturday to condemn the "discriminatory attitude" of the central government towards Tamil Nadu.
In an eight-minute video explaining the reasons for skipping the meeting held in New Delhi which was boycotted by 10 states - Stalin said the Union Budget "takes revenge" on not only Tamil Nadu, but the entire country.
The chief minister also said, "The Union Finance Minister has announced, without consulting the states, that the stamp duty levied by them will be reduced." "Who gave them the authority to alter the tax levying system of the states when they (centre) have not even disbursed the 20,000crore GST compensation to Tamil Nadu," he asked.
