Aadhaar no longer valid as date of birth document: Yogi issues orders to depts

THE Uttar Pradesh government has issued directives against Aadhaar card being considered as the proof of birth date. On November 24, the state planning department, through a circular, directed all the department heads against the use of Aadhaar cards as birth proof.

In the circular, the departments were asked to refer to the letter issued by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), dated October 31, 2025, clarifying that "Aadhaar card is not the proof of birth".

Since no birth certificate is attached to Adhaar card, it cannot be considered a birth certificate," UP's planning department said in a notification issued on Friday.
