Actor wins by 21 votes; vows to bring change with new leadership after Mohanlal panel's exit
THE Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) on Friday scripted history by electing actor Shwetha Menon as its president — the first woman to hold the post in the body's 30-year history.
Shwetha's elevation comes in the wake of the resignation of the committee led by actor Mohanlal, following the release of the Hema Committee report in August 2024. The organisation had since faced criticism over the absence of women in its top ranks.
