Man held for killing mom convicted of culpable homicide and not murder

A 31-year-old man, charged in 2021 with murdering his mother in a fit of rage, was instead convicted of culpable homicide not amounting to murder by a sessions court in Chennai on February 20.
Sentencing the accused to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment, the court said the man, R Moorthy, did not premeditate the crime and that it was done suddenly in the heat of the moment.
