Remove four Tasmac outlets on Arcot Road

Tipplers create nuisance every day, say residents; TVK members submit plea to collector seeking removal of shops

MEMBERS of TVK on Monday petitioned Collector V R Subbulaxmi over the issues caused by the presence of four Tasmac outlets on Arcot Road in Vellore.

As of now, four Tasmac outlets, which are situated next to each other, continue to operate on Arcot Road, a main road close to CMC Hospital. Residents told TNIE that soon after 7 pm, men, mostly from Sathuvachari and beyond, buy alcohol from the outlets and occupy empty spaces inside residential areas, including the footpath opposite houses, as well as the front portions of a ration shop and a primary health centre. Residents, especially women and children, fear for their safety while walking on the streets.
